FAST S.p.A. has held UNI EN ISO 9001 company certification since 1997. This international standard lays out the fundamental requirements for demonstrating a company's ability to regularly provide products based on its customers' requests or complying with the relative legally binding requisites; enhancing customer satisfaction by means of continuous improvement.
FAST S.p.A. confirms its will to maintain and increase its success via policies that boost the performance of both the company and its products, focusing on meeting the market requests and providing firm answers to customers' expectations. Continuous improvement is a permanent company goal. All the employees are involved in this process via the constant monitoring of system performance and customer satisfaction.
In 2004, FAST S.p.A. was the first company in the air handling sector to receive UNI EN ISO 14001 certification. This international standard specifies the requisites for companies wanting to draw up an innovative industrial policy aimed at reducing the effect of their work on the environment.
FAST S.p.A. confirmed its sensitivity to problems linked with environmental protection and conservation by developing a programme for monitoring and improving its work processes and products, aiming to limit environmental impact.
All the employees are trained and informed in order to boost their awareness of how each individual role has an impact in environmental protection. The entire production process, from the purchase of materials to the end product, tends to use innovative technologies with a reduced environmental footprint, reducing the use of water, energy and packaging and limiting scraps and waste.
FAST S.p.A is certified according to UNI ISO 45001:2018, the international standard for Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) management system certification.
The safety and protection of people is a fundamental value that each and every one of us puts into practice in all our day-to-day activities.
We strive to involve all our colleagues, customers and suppliers in all our common activities, because OSH is a value we must all believe in and identify with. We are committed to promoting a culture of health and safety by creating a positive working environment where personal experiences are at the centre of a shared journey that helps colleagues grow professionally.
Numerous laboratory tests were carried out at the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health of the University of Padua, to verify the effectiveness of the special bacteriostatic treatment applied to the inner surface of the air handling units.
The certificates show the results of the bacteriostatic action on the tested surfaces, examining various bacterial strains, and a comparison with the commonly used surfaces inside the AHU (galvanised steel and stainless steel in particular).
Directive 2014/68/EU (PED) imposes design, fabrication and testing requisites for pressure equipment. The aim of the directive is to guarantee standardised criteria throughout all the countries of the European Community, in order to develop safe products; the CE marking is mandatory in specific conditions defined by the directive.
In keeping with the current standards, FAST S.p.A. gives the utmost priority to the essential quality and safety requisites when designing, making and testing its products so as to be able to provide its customers with verified, certified equipment. For this reason, FAST S.p.A. undergoes regular surveillance visits and inspection of its technical documentation that permit it to add the CE marking to products for which Directive 2014/68/EU (PED) is legally binding
In collaboration with the Department of Technical Physics of the University of Padua, measurements were taken in the laboratory on various types of panelling (50 mm thick) that make up the shell of the air handling units. The results are useful for making an acoustic comparison between the different types and, in particular, between the various types of insulation (polyurethane or mineral wool) and their different densities (mineral wool with a density of 40 kg/m3 and 100 kg/m3).
The certificates show the excellent behaviour of mineral wool insulation in terms of noise-damping.
The certificates show the sound-proofing power R – expressed in dB – for one-third octave bands for the following panelling:
- PZP (pre-painted exterior, galvanised steel interior, polyurethane insulation with a density of 42 kg/m3)
- AAP (aluminium exterior, aluminium interior, polyurethane insulation with a density of 42 kg/m3)
- PZL (pre-painted exterior, galvanised steel interior, mineral wool insulation with a density of 40 kg/m3)
- PZL (pre-painted exterior, galvanised steel interior, polyurethane insulation with a density of 100 kg/m3)
FAST S.p.A. takes part in the Eurovent programme relating to air handling units (AHU). The products concerned appear on the eurovent-certification.com or certiflash.com website.
FAST S.p.A. participates in the product certification programmes of Eurovent – a European organisation with 15 national member associations bringing together the manufacturers of ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment from eleven countries. The voluntary certification programmes established and managed by Eurovent provide for a comparison between the technical characteristics declared by the manufacturer in the documentation and in the selection software and the results of the test conducted on real products.
The certification body allows the companies to use the Eurovent logo for all the documentation relating to products that comply and are included in the annual Eurovent reports.
Its purpose is to create a basis for comparison, to ensure “healthy” and “fair” competition on the European market, and to be a benchmark for engineers, consultants, installers and users who draw on it when choosing air conditioning and refrigeration systems with certified performance levels.
When designing its products, FAST pays special attention to safety aspects, to ensure the CE marking is respected. The CE marking guarantees that a product complies with the safety requisites of the relevant EU directives.
The EC Declaration of Conformity is the last piece in a process that begins with the identification of the technical standards and ends with precise type-approval tests in specialised labs.
The whole risk analysis and assessment phase is always carried out internally by specialised product technicians. The drawing up of the technical documentation, to ensure the product can be used with the minimum risk, enables the product to be put onto the market.
FAST S.p.A., aware of the importance of every aspect of the design of air conditioning systems, has obtained a significant new result in terms of the certification of its machines. It regards the reaction of its buffer panels (injected with polyurethane foam) to fire.
This outstanding result was made possible by a new formula for the polyurethane foam heat-injected into the sandwich buffer panels on our units. As of March 2014, all FAST units use the new polyurethane foam formula. Of course, mineral wool insulation of various densities is still available as an option.
This innovative technological solution has enabled the firm to reach not only class M1 in the reaction to fire category, but also HBF response to fire (in accordance with the restrictive American standard UL 94).
What's more, with the new water-based blowing agent we can declare a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of zero.
ErP means ‘Energy Related Products’, in other words products that have a direct or indirect impact on energy production and consumption.
The ECODESIGN 2009/125/EC Directive set up a framework for processing specifications for the eco-compatible design of energy-related products (ErP). A wide variety of products are covered by the ErP Directive: boilers, engines, TVs, bulbs and, regarding FAST in particular, HVAC/R products.
Within this sphere, there are two main regulations: 1253/2014 and 2281/2016.
FAST is committed to ensuring that the products it designs and markets comply with these regulations.
Compliance with the certification based on the German Standard VDI6022 - DIN 1946 for its specific air handling units demonstrates the company's commitment to ensuring an optimum level of hygiene for its products.
Compliance with the technical guidelines of VDI 6022 means that the sizing of the units, the materials used, the components installed, the construction choices and, more generally, the whole production process are such as to facilitate their cleaning, reduce microbial proliferation to the internal parts and ensure good resistance to detergents and disinfectants used during maintenance operations.
The certification process was carried out by Eurocertifications Srl, Italian partner of TÜV Hessen.
